11. John William PROCTOR^1,17 was born on 12 March 1862 in Edgecombe County, North Carolina.^1,9,23,25 The 1900 Census lists his birthdate as August 1861. In 1900 he was a farmer in Lower Town Creek Township, Edgecombe County, North Carolina.²⁵ In 1910 he was a farmer in No. Fourteen Township, Edgecombe County, North Carolina.²⁶ John was buried in 1928 at Upper Town Creek Primitive Baptist Cemetery in Elm City, Wilson County, North Carolina.^23,27 He died in July 1928 at the age of 66.^23,27 He owned a farm at a location near Rocky Mount in Edgecombe County, North Carolina.²⁸ His daughter Betty Proctor was still living in that farm house (Pleasant Hill Road in Edgecombe Co., NC) "until about a year before she died." John William PROCTOR and Laura BROWN were married on 13 January 1885 in No. Thirteen Township, Edgecombe County, North Carolina.^20,21,29 Laura BROWN, daughter of Bythal (Bythel? Bithel?) G. BROWN and Catherine (Catherina?) MOORE, was born on 3 March 1862 in Edgecombe County, North Carolina.^10,30 She died on 23 August 1893 at the age of 31 in Edgecombe County, North Carolina.¹⁰ She was buried in Edgecombe County, North Carolina.²⁷ "She is buried in a private cemetary in Edgecombe County, NC. The graves in that cemetary were marked with wooden markers that were unreadable in the early 1970's. The site is located on High Level Road. It is about 1/2 mile from highway NC #43.
