16. Col. William Robert HOOKS^4,13 was born on 25 September 1812.⁴ He died on 18 June 1888 at the age of 75.¹¹ He was buried after 18 June 1888 in Wayne County, North Carolina.¹¹ He was buried in a "cemetery is located on Route 117 about ½ mile south of Fremont, N.C. Number 159 on map." (Wayne County Cemetery Records) William owned "large farm holdings" near Fremont.⁴

Col. William Robert HOOKS and Peninah DEW were married.⁴ Peninah DEW⁴, daughter of Larry DEW, was born on 17 February 1825.¹¹ She died on 16 July 1865 at the age of 40.¹¹ She was buried after 16 July 1865 in Wayne County, North Carolina.¹¹ She was buried in a "cemetery is located on Route 117 about ½ mile south of Fremont, N.C. Number 159 on map." (Wayne County Cemetery Records)

Col. William Robert HOOKS and Peninah DEW had the following children:

35	iii.	James M. HOOKS⁴ was born in 1853.⁴
36	iv.	Jonathan T. HOOKS⁴ was born on 30 September 1855.⁴ He was buried in 1924 at Fremont Cemetery in Fremont, Wayne County, North Carolina. He died on 13 June 1924 at the age of 68. Jonathan was a banker in Fremont, Wayne County, North Carolina.⁴ He owned extensive lands in Texas.⁴
